Softball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Bulldogs vs. Sedro-Woolley Cubs

Mount Vernon hasn't had much luck against Sedro-Woolley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Cubs at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mount Vernon comes in on four and Sedro-Woolley on 18.

On Tuesday, Mount Vernon earned a 9-6 win over Nooksack Valley.

Meanwhile, Sedro-Woolley never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Burlington-Edison 12-0. The Cubs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

Sedro-Woolley pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.

Mount Vernon came up short against Sedro-Woolley when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
