Basketball Recap: Lutheran Crusaders vs. Calvary Saints

Lutheran lost against Calvary back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lutheran Crusaders took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvary Saints. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 608th, while the Saints are ranked 247th).

It was another big night for Luke Blackford, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds for Calvary. Blackford's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antione Hunter, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and six boards.

Lutheran has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Calvary, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Lutheran will be taking part in a tournament against Athens at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calvary, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Auburn at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Auburn likes a good challenge.
