Baseball Recap: John Carroll Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

John Carroll had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They didn't even let the Havre de Grace Warriors on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jack Hudson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, John Carroll let Will Rhine and Casey Carpenter run wild. Rhine got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Carpenter went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dallas Brooks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.

John Carroll's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Havre de Grace, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, John Carroll will look to defend their home field on Monday against McDonogh at 6:15 p.m. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Havre de Grace, they will take on Aberdeen on Tuesday.
