Basketball Recap: Ruthanna Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Manila over Valley

Manila and Valley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Manila had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Valley Buffalos by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since December 28, 2024.

Manila lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ruthanna Wilson, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Manila's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 10-5 (and 5-7 when she doesn't). Kallie Bair was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Manila and nudges their season record down to 15-12. As for Valley, their record now sits at 16-9.

Manila does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valley, they have already played their next matchup, a 39-29 defeat against Whitehorse on the 1st.
