Baseball Game Preview: Southeast Guilford Falcons vs. South Caldwell Spartans

The Southeast Guilford Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the South Caldwell Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

It was a classic North v. South duel when Southeast Guilford faced off against Northern Guilford on Tuesday. The Falcons took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nighthawks. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, South Caldwell has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.72 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They fell just short of Watauga by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since April 2nd.

South Caldwell's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 23-2. As for Southeast Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.

Southeast Guilford took their win against South Caldwell in their previous matchup back in May of 2017 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
