Preview: Spencerport Rangers vs. Irondequoit Eagles
Spencerport has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Irondequoit Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Spencerport will be strutting in after a win while Irondequoit will be coming in after a defeat.
On January 5th, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Spencerport beat Honeoye Falls-Lima 47-42. The victory was just what Spencerport needed coming off of a 60-40 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Irondequoit's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 54-46 to Gates Chili.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kailey Besio, who scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Ellie Bottiglier was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, Irondequoit were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Spencerport's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Irondequoit, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Spencerport against Irondequoit in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 66-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spencerport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
