Football Recap: Walden Grove Red Wolves vs. Northwest Christian Crusaders
Walden Grove couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell to the Northwest Christian Crusaders 21-16. The Red Wolves just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row dating back to last season.
Several Red Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Robert Cash Iii, who rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown. Another receiver making a difference was Jayvon Coleman, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading Northwest Christian to victory were Laki Wallwork and Nathan Johannes. Wallwork threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns, while Johannes gained 130 total yards and a touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (100 yards to be exact) went to Devon Helmer.
Walden Grove will take on Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northwest Christian, they will be defending their home-field for the first timethey go up against Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
