Softball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Wins Going Away Against Richwoods

Peoria Notre Dame lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Richwoods, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Irish put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 10-1 victory on Monday. Considering the Irish have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lexie Dallinger-Eaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Peoria Notre Dame let Ella Tady and Gianna Cowan run wild. Tady went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Cowan scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Tady has posted since back in April of 2024. Elizabeth Leustek was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Peoria Notre Dame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Peoria Notre Dame now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Richwoods, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Peoria Notre Dame and Richwoods will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Irish are set to square off against their familiar foe Danville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Richwoods will challenge rival Peoria at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
