Softball Recap: Brown County Takes a Loss

Brown County extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-17 in the process. They came up short against the Carrollton Hawks, falling 17-1. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Brown County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Craven, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Carrollton, the win keeps they at an undefeated 26-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.1 runs this season.

On Carrollton's side, Hannah Uhles was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Uhles was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Flowers, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brookelyn Eilerman, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Brown County will square off against Astoria/VIT at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.53 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Carrollton, they will take on Marquette Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
