Baseball Recap: Oakleaf Comes Up Short

Oakleaf came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-7 to the Bolles Bulldogs. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Jay Arzuaga-Flores stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Connor Tant also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Even though they lost, Oakleaf hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bolles struck out seven times.

Oakleaf has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. Bolles' win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Oakleaf will host Keystone Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bolles, they will venture away from home to challenge Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parrish Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
