The East Ridge Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Winter Springs Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Winter Springs will be up against a hot East Ridge team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Knights put the hurt on Olympia with a sharp 10-1 victory on Tuesday.
Simmone Hymiller looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lilly Land was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Veronica Peterson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Winter Springs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Seminoles as they made off with a 13-2 win.
Winter Springs let Lilly Clark and Abigail Hooper run wild. Clark went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Hooper went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was Hooper's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Seemann, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
East Ridge pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Winter Springs, their record now sits at 15-7.
Both East Ridge and Winter Springs just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Winter Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits.
