Basketball Recap: Surrey Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Surrey, they should've done a better job of containing Makya Gerding. The Surrey Mustangs walked away with a 56-44 win over the Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon Hornets on Monday thanks in part to Gerding, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 15 points along with seven boards and five assists. What's more, she also racked up four steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023.

Laney Will was another key player, putting up five points along with five boards and four steals. Will is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Surrey and bumps their season record up to 3-2. As for Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

The future could be bright for both Surrey and Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Surrey will try to hand Nedrose their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon will try to hand Westhope/Newburg their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:15 p.m. on January 23, 2025.
