Softball Recap: Crossett Takes a Loss

Crossett extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Star City Bulldogs. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Crossett saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braelyn Campbell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Another was Mckinnley Jackson, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

As for Star City, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On Star City's side, Lilly Weast was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Weast was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Crossett will venture away from home to square off against Hamburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Star City, they will head out to face off against Drew Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
