Softball Recap: Spanish River Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Spanish River had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Boca Raton Bobcats with a sharp 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Sharks have won by exactly ten runs.

Giselle Portanova and Abygail Gonzalez were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Portanova pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gonzalez pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Portanova went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits Portanova has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kat Arencibia was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Ready, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Spanish River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boca Raton only posted an OBP of .200.

Spanish River's record now sits at 11-7. As for Boca Raton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.

As of now, neither Spanish River nor the Bobcats have any future games scheduled.
