Baseball Recap: Bloomington North Beats Bloomington South for Their Fourth Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, Bloomington North rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Bloomington South Panthers 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Panthers two weeks ago, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Luke Freel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bloomington North's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chris Barnett, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Bloomington North, bringing their record up to 14-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bloomington South, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 17-7 record.

Coming up, Bloomington North will take on Terre Haute South Vigo at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Braves have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Bloomington South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
