Basketball Recap: Greenwood Woodmen vs. Plainfield Quakers
Greenwood was the 65-58 winner over Plainfield when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Greenwood Woodmen were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 65-64 to the Plainfield Quakers. The Woodmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Greenwood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Parker Doolin, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds, and Isaac O'Neal, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points. What's more, Doolin also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Acen Swain was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Plainfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Smith, who went 12-for-20 en route to 27 points and seven boards. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Baker-Lands, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 19 points.
Greenwood's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Plainfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Greenwood has already played their next contest, a 52-47 victory against Seymour on the 15th. As for Plainfield, they will head out to square off against Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st.
