Softball Game Preview: Fernley Vaqueros vs. Wooster Colts

Fernley has gone a perfect 4-0 against Wooster recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Fernley Vaqueros will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Wooster Colts at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fernley has three straight wins, Wooster has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Fernley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Sparks 20-0 on Saturday. Considering the Vaqueros have won four games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ximena Rodriguez was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Tollestrup, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Fernley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Wooster lost 18-1 to Elko on Friday.

Fernley pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wooster, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
