Volleyball Recap: Southside Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Southside unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Burbank Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Southside actually scored more points across those five sets (106-103), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 26-24, 20-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Southside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lila Tagle, who had 17 digs and one assist.

Southside will face off against Edison at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Burbank, they will take on John F. Kennedy in a tournament on Thursday.
