Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Joshua Shogreen and Eduardo Garza Lead Porter to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against San Benito, Porter was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They snuck past the Mercedes Tigers with a 54-49 win. This was payback for the Cowboys, who suffered a 47-37 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Porter to victory were Eduardo Garza and Joshua Shogreen. Garza posted 25 points and six steals, while Shogreen went 8 of 13 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Garza has scored at least a third of Porter's points.

Porter's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Mercedes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Porter will take on Donna North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mercedes, they will face off against Harlingen South at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
