Recap: Payson Longhorns vs. Camp Verde Cowboys

The Payson Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Camp Verde 56-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Payson also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Payson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alondra Ramirez led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Ramirez scored 15 or more points. Hannah Sarnowski was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Payson's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Camp Verde, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Payson will square off against Maricopa at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Camp Verde, they will head out on the road to face off against Horizon Honors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Horizon Honors focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Thursday.
