Recap: West Mesquite Wranglers vs. Adams Cougars

The West Mesquite Wranglers were the 73-47 winner over the Adams Cougars when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. West Mesquite took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Adams on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as West Mesquite came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Adams is ranked 759th).

Adams' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terell Toomas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonah Pacheco, who scored 14 points.

West Mesquite dropped their record down to 22-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Adams, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-18 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Mesquite will square off against Spruce at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mesquite is facing Spruce at the right time seeing as Spruce is stuck on a 22-game losing streak. As for Adams, they will head out on the road to face off against Conrad at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Adams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
