Baseball Recap: La Jolla Comes Up Short

La Jolla came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Brawley Wildcats, falling 13-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since May 21, 2024.

Hank Hansen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

La Jolla has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Brawley, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.

La Jolla and Brawley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Vikings (ranked 677th) will meet Imperial (ranked 233rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Brawley will square off against Las Vegas at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (444 vs. 5).
