Football Game Preview: Holmdel Hornets vs. Raritan Rockets

Holmdel is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to take on the Raritan Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Holmdel made easy work of Marlboro and carried off a 47-21 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hornets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Mustangs are ranked 129th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Raritan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against Asbury Park on Friday as they made off with a 43-19 victory.

The win got Raritan back to even at 3-3. As for Holmdel, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Holmdel took their win against Raritan in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 56-31 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
