Basketball Recap: Great Hearts Irving Extends Winning Streak to Six

Great Hearts Irving waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against Varsity Opponent by a score of 58-45. That's the sixth time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 64-11 back in December of 2024.

Great Hearts Irving got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Jessee out in front who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points. Jakes Maundu was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Great Hearts Irving's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Great Hearts Irving will face off against Uplift Elevate Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Great Hearts Irving knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Uplift Elevate Prep likes a good challenge. As for Varsity Opponent, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-52 loss against UME Preparatory Academy on the 7th.
