Recap: Foundation Academy Lions vs. City of Life Christian Academy Warriors
After losing to the City of Life Christian Academy Warriors the last time they met, the Foundation Academy Lions decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Foundation Academy strolled past City of Life Christian Academy with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 60-41.
Foundation Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Michels led the charge by scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Michels pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Holloman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why City of Life Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Faith Wener. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Wener is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Talia St hilaire was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Foundation Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for City of Life Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Foundation Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Victory Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Victory Christian Academy is ranked 301st, while Foundation Academy is ranked 300th). City of Life Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvary Chapel Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 19th.
