Baseball Recap: Leland Takes a Loss

Leland had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-16 to make it four. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Willow Glen Rams. The shutout was out of character for the Chargers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Leland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Canter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Canter is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Willow Glen, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Willow Glen's side, the result came thanks to Dante Pini's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ray Walsh, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Ben Mudgett was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Willow Glen beat Leland by a score of 4-2 on Friday.
