Baseball Recap: Nelson County Comes Up Short

The Nelson County Cardinals came up short against the Boyle County Rebels on Saturday and fell 8-5. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trey Sparrow and T Gagel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sparrow went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Gagel went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was J Mcknight, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Nelson County's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Boyle County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-8 record this season.

Nelson County will head out on the road to square off against Hart County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Boyle County, they will host Wayne County at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rebels will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
