Baseball Recap: Marist Comes Up Short

Marist came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the RedHawks have suffered since May 10, 2024.

John McAuliffe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Marist's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Joey Gumuls also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Marist now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.
