Softball Game Preview: Toutle Lake Ducks vs. King's Way Christian Knights

The Toutle Lake Ducks will head out to square off against the King's Way Christian Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Toutle Lake will be strutting in after a victory while King's Way Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

While Ducks fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. They blew past Winlock 29-1 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Ducks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Audrey Kilponen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Kilponen was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jamie Veach was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Karly Opsahl was another key player, scoring three runs while going 5-for-5.

Meanwhile, King's Way Christian lost 21-6 to Kalama on Thursday.

Grace Wickum made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Josie Hegi, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Toutle Lake took their victory against King's Way Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 19-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for Toutle Lake since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
