Softball Recap: Guerin Catholic Comes Up Short

Guerin Catholic had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-7 to make it four. They lost 8-1 to the Western Boone Stars. Having soared to a lofty 28 runs in the game before, the Golden Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Gia Crishon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Guerin Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jillian Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Western Boone, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Western Boone's side, Ally Lewis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lewis has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

Guerin Catholic has already played their next contest, a 7-6 defeat against Greenfield-Central on the 16th. Western Boone has also already played their next matchup (against Lawrence North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
