After both having extra time off, the Dobson Mustangs and the Camelback Spartans will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Dobson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Apollo with a sharp 16-6 victory last Thursday.
Allie Hanson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Hanson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiley Beard, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Shaylee Peshlakai was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Dobson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Camelback can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game last Thursday. They walked away with a 17-13 win over Carl Hayden Community.
Like Dobson, Camelback also got a great game from a two-way player: Zitlalit Perez Corrales. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off only one hit. Perez Corrales was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Emily 'Lotus' Bautista was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Samay Ramos, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Dobson's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Camelback, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Everything went Dobson's way against Camelback in their previous matchup back in April of 2015, as Dobson made off with a 16-1 victory. Does Dobson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Camelback turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
