Volleyball Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short

Cherokee entered their contest against North Iredell on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Braves fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-1. While the Braves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-14 in the first set.

Cherokee came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Despite the defeat, Cherokee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lilly Lossiah had five digs and two aces. Lossiah has been hot, having also posted 16 or more assists the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Moore, who had seven assists and five digs.

Cherokee's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for North Iredell, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Cherokee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Ashe County on the 19th. As for North Iredell, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Brevard on the 19th.
