Basketball Recap: Gloucester Comes Up Short

Gloucester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Hampton Crabbers, falling 61-24. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dukes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-40 back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Gavin Kay, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds for Hampton. Kay's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Abraham Taft, who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points.

Gloucester's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Hampton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Coming up, Gloucester will head out to square off against West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hampton, they will take on Menchville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
