Basketball Recap: Fort Wayne North Side Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne North Side played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 81-37 loss at the hands of the Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins. While losing is never fun, the Legends can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Bruins are ranked 32nd).

Fort Wayne North Side's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saniyah Kimbrough, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariana Mitchell, who earned 11 points.

Fort Wayne Northrop got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Swynn Jackson out in front who went 7 of 15 en route to 18 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds. Jackson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 23 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Miley Wareing, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Fort Wayne North Side has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.

Fort Wayne North Side will head out on the road to challenge Homestead at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Fort Wayne Northrop has already played their next game, a 59-28 victory against Tippecanoe Valley on the 18th.
