Softball Game Preview: Elwood Panthers vs. Madison-Grant Argylls

Elwood is 1-9 against Madison-Grant since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Panthers will take on the Argylls in a tournament on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Elwood duked it out with Alexandria-Monroe on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 21-1 to the Tigers. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Journey Crawford, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Madison-Grant came up short against Lapel on Tuesday, falling 15-5. The matchup marked the Argylls' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Demie Havens led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Carley Holliday, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Madison-Grant's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Elwood, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Elwood hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
