St. Clair is a perfect 3-0 against Almont since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Saints will face off against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, St. Clair put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They blew past L'Anse Creuse North 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Hayley McFarlane made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. McFarlane was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madisyn Treat was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten matchups. Rylee Schneider was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
St. Clair always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Almont came out on top against Croswell-Lexington on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Raiders were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Pioneers. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won seven in a row.
The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Bunch, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
St. Clair has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Almont, their record is now 5-6-1.
St. Clair's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Saints have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Almont, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Clair continue to outrun the ball?
St. Clair was able to grind out a solid win over Almont in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
