Football Recap: Gettysburg Warriors vs. Waynesboro Indians

There's no place like home for Gettysburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 43-34 victory over the Waynesboro Indians on Friday. The Warriors pushed the score to 43-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.

Grant Johnson had a dynamite game, throwing for 361 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Gettysburg's leading receiver Kash Kessel was Johnson's top target yet again, picking up 154 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Julz Warren, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Waynesboro saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Larry Taylor picked up 71 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 55 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

The win got Gettysburg back to even at 1-1. As for Waynesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
