Football Game Preview: Plainview Bulldogs vs. Memorial Mavericks

The Plainview Bulldogs will face off against the Memorial Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 895 yards in their previous games.

Plainview is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Thursday. They were beaten by Palo Duro 55-25. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Dons are ranked 96th).

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Seth Mayberry and Julian Reese II. Reese II had a great game and threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. Meanwhile, Mayberry was balling out in the loss, throwing for 297 yards and three TDs.

Meanwhile, Memorial came up short against Lubbock-Cooper on Thursday and fell 49-42.

Plainview will need to focus on slowing down Jamari Dean, one of several Memorial players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 177 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Dean's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. Joe Castles was another key player, throwing for 291 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes.

Plainview's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Plainview has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 424.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 354.6 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
