Baseball Recap: Compton Early College Rising Phoenix vs. Glenn Eagles

After flying high against Centennial last Monday, Compton Early College came back down to earth. The Compton Early College Rising Phoenix wound up on the wrong side of a tough 20-2 walloping at the hands of the Glenn Eagles on Wednesday.

For Glenn's part, Josiah Alcala made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Alcala was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, a triple, and a run.

In other batting news, Glenn got a massive performance out of Bert Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Logan Bruce, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Compton Early College's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Glenn, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
