Segerstrom is 8-1 against Katella since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Segerstrom Jaguars will square off against the Katella Knights at 6:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Segerstrom is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since December 23, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 52-32 to Garden Grove. The defeat continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Argonauts: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Katella was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 72-68 to Kennedy. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 712th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 247th).

Segerstrom will need focus on slowing down Joseph Damian, one of several Katella players who made an impact when they last played. He went 10 of 23 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds. Damian is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Dillon Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards.

Segerstrom's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Katella, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-9.

Segerstrom came up short against Katella when the teams last played on January 10th, falling 51-42. Can Segerstrom avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
