Football Preview: Teton Timberwolves vs. Fruitland Grizzlies
The Teton Timberwolves will venture away from home to square off against the Fruitland Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Teton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Teton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 40 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Sugar-Salem on Friday. They were outmatched by the Diggers on the road and fell 45-7. The Timberwolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.
Meanwhile, Fruitland earned a 24-13 win over McCall-Donnelly on Friday.
Fruitland found their leader in sophomore Titus Vidlak, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 148 yards and a touchdown. Those 95 rushing yards gave Vidlak a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Killian Wilson, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Fruitland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCall-Donnelly only rushed for 56.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fruitland's defense and their nine sacks. It was truly a group effort as Kelvin Obot, Levi Morales, and Rocky Weatherspoon picked up two apiece.
Teton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Fruitland, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Teton against Fruitland in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, as the squad secured a 47-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Teton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
