Softball Game Preview: William Penn Colonials vs. Newark Charter School Patriots

The William Penn Colonials are taking a road trip to square off against the Newark Charter School Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. William Penn has given up an average of 19 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for William Penn's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 19-0 to Concord, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Colonials have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Newark Charter School, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on MOT Charter with a sharp 15-2 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

William Penn's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Newark Charter School, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Everything went William Penn's way against Newark Charter School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as William Penn made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonials since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
