Preview: Calvert Senecas vs. Crestview Knights
The Calvert Senecas will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Crestview Knights at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
After a string of eight wins, Calvert's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 19-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hopewell-Loudon. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, Calvert couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Crestview was the victim of a tough 49-28 loss at the hands of Leipsic on Friday. It was the first time this season that Crestview let down their fans at home.
Despite their loss, Crestview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braxton Leeth, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Zayden Martin was another key contributor, rushing for 93 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Calvert's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Crestview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Calvert took a serious blow against Crestview when the teams last played back in October of 2020, falling 50-13. Can Calvert avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
