Softball Recap: West Limestone Has No Trouble Against Bob Jones

West Limestone never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Bob Jones Patriots with a sharp 16-0 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

JuliAnn Kyle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Waggoner, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Yarbrough, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Limestone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bob Jones only posted an OBP of .333.

West Limestone is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Bob Jones dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, West Limestone and Bob Jones will both be playing Central the next time they take the field. West Limestone will head out to face Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Bob Jones will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
