Recap: Washington-Marion Charging Indians vs. Bourgeois Braves
After a string of three wins, the Washington-Marion Charging Indians's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Bourgeois by a score of 46-44.
Washington-Marion's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Thomas, who scored 21 points. Thomas scored a full 47.7% of Washington-Marion's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Fantasy Brown was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Washington-Marion were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bourgeois only pulled down five.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bourgeois to victory, but perhaps none more so than Destiny Holmes, who scored 9 points. Holmes is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mariah Nixon, who scored 9 points.
Washington-Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Bourgeois, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Washington-Marion's road trip will continue as they head out to face Midland at 1:00 p.m. on November 25th. Midland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Washington-Marion in Louisiana (Midland is ranked 32nd, while Washington-Marion is ranked 101st). As for Bourgeois, they will head out on the road to face off against White Castle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
