Baseball Game Preview: Belpre Golden Eagles vs. Warren Warriors

The Belpre Golden Eagles will face off against the Warren Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, Belpre came up short against Southern and fell 7-4. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Tornadoes: they've now lost three in a row.

Chris Copen was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carson Moore, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Warren fell victim to Fort Frye and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Cadets by a score of 2-0. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Tate Jonas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Warren saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saben Jonas, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Warren's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Belpre, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
