Basketball Game Preview: Eastlake Falcons vs. Franklin Cougars

Eastlake is 2-8 against Franklin since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eastlake Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Franklin Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Eastlake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.

Eastlake took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Socorro 66-27. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their 30-point performance the match before.

Eastlake found their leader in sophomore Tristan Anderson-Edmond, who went 9 for 12 en route to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braeden Quigley, who posted eight points and eight boards.

Eastlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Franklin didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Socorro on Friday, but they still walked away with a 53-48 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 446th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1019th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eastlake pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Franklin, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Eastlake didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Franklin in their previous meeting on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 59-55 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastlake since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
