Basketball Game Preview: Spruce Mountain Phoenix vs. Leavitt Hornets

Spruce Mountain and Leavitt are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Spruce Mountain Phoenix will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Leavitt Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Spruce Mountain will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Spruce Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Lisbon, posting an 88-20 win. Given the Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 129th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Leavitt lost 57-36 to Mount View on Friday.

Leavitt's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Spruce Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.

Everything went Spruce Mountain's way against Leavitt in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Spruce Mountain made off with a 61-35 win. Will Spruce Mountain repeat their success, or does Leavitt have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
