Recap: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Boulder Creek Jaguars
The Pinnacle Pioneers's game last Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 70-62 win over Boulder Creek. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pinnacle was led to victory by Ryan Nelson and Saleem Gakiza. Nelson scored 20 points along with three steals, while Gakiza scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gakiza has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Braylon Johnson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Boulder Creek's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Auditya, who scored 16 points. Auditya continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Andrew Bhesania was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Pinnacle's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Boulder Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinnacle will take on Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Boulder Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyslope is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
