Basketball Recap: Copper Basin Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Carson Parris and Talon Smith

Copper Basin lost against Hiwassee Dam back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Copper Basin Cougars fell 57-49 to the Hiwassee Dam Eagles. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Copper Basin's loss came despite strong showings from Talon Smith and Carson Parris. Smith almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Parris went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and seven boards. Smith's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Copper Basin's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Hiwassee Dam, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.

Copper Basin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-45 defeat against Sale Creek on the 24th. As for Hiwassee Dam, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-63 victory against Nantahala on the 28th.
